Regardless, fans will be happy to see the continuation of the Modern Warfare reboot that went down so well in 2019. Especially given the recent release of a remastered version of Modern Warfare 2’s campaign, having another Call of Duty release with the same name may confuse online discussions. This will be differentiated from the original Modern Warfare 2 by using roman numerals for the official title, although some fans may still struggle with the familiar name. Rather confusingly, Call of Duty 2022 will be titled Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 according to leaks. With this in mind, it is no surprise that the Call of Duty series will likely be revisiting Modern Warfare in its next installment. ![]() Call of Duty: Vanguard has struggled in sales when compared to previous entries in the series, while Black Ops Cold War faced some barriers at launch, including a lack of multiplayer maps. ![]() However, of the last three Call of Duty releases, it may be Call of Duty: Modern Warfare that has been the most successful and most well-received.
